Remembrance in a Changing Media Landscape

November 1, 2018
Evening
TBD

Dave Piedra Cobas will discuss how we remember the experiences and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform in a time where how we consume media is undergoing radical change. Much of the change to the media in Canada is a result of the effect the internet has had on viewing habits, this will only continue - the old business model is done and will not return.

The generation of Canadian soldiers that served in Afghanistan have come home at a time where it has never been more challenging to document their experiences  For those of us interested in telling those stories, the next few years will be a difficult but also possibly an exciting time to explore new platforms on which to place the very important story of our country's military and the men and women who have given so much in doing their duty.

Speaker: Dave Piedra Cobas

Speaker: Greg Price, served with the Royal Canadian Air Force at the Medical Services HQ during Operation Athena in Afghanistan (April - December 2010).

Speaker: Warrant Officer Steve Gardiner, 31 Service Battalion - Canadian Forces 31 Canadian Brigade Group
